Mr Boorn & Wife
Seeing that you answered the letter I wrote you last fall so promptly—over the left. I am just now to be found a writeing to you again. The weather is very hot has been so for about two months and not much rain to cool the air or to wet down the dust and sand. I am well and hearty as ever soldiering agrees with me very well have no fault to find that I know of. I am up to our front in front of Petersburg nowdays about three times a week with ammunition our boys have done some hard work up there and have a chance to do a great deal more I fear before they walk the cused streets of Ritchmond they havent been a laying still for nothing the last ten days I came down from there yesterday our boys have planted a seige Battery that will disturb the dreams of Mr Joney Reb some fine morning I reckon the men have the utmost confidence in Gen Grant. He is a very common appearing Officer doesnot put on airs at all not half so much as some of his seckoned Lieutenants do and he dont like to see much a do made when he is rideing along the lines But he has a tough job on hand to get in to the Confederate Capital and so maney have been killed and wounded this summer it is enough to discourage aney one the churches in Portsmouth are are full of sick and wounded.

It is about mail time and I must close hopeing that you are all well and enjoying all of health attendant blessings

I remain Yours truly
