Dear Brother
                                         I now take time to write to you to let you know how I am at preasent. I am well if not beter then usezial it is a nice morning abot eight oclock I have joust got through with tending Miron Miller he has ben sick with his arm it was cased from vacknation his arm all broke out with big soers all over it I have taken care of him he had a very hard head ake and was bound up to but is a giting beter now I hope you are all well for I could not stand it if eny of you ware sick for I should want to be home with you I expect it would look cind a natral thare at home for it dont look nor seam hear as it does thare it dont look as if it was july you dont se eny grane hear nothing but nigers and Solgers thare is not an a grate meny of them hear but I have got use to it and I can stand / now I think but thare is some of the boys cannot stand it but non that you know unless it is Lenard I dont know wether he can or not but Serl Marchal can he is tuff and a giting along very well Oh! Wm you dont know how we are taned up but it dont hurt us tho Oh! how thay did roar thay went from hear thare we expected to go to but didnot go abot the time our men ware retreating we ware orderd to git ready to march we pack up and come out in abot tenn minits we had sixteen rounds of catrigs delt out to us but ware sent back to be ready at eny time to go tho we then began to hear storys abot the batle the next morning some of Solgers that was thare come to our camp and told the sad tail to us but thay got along very well with them thay killed the most of the rebles thare was some very hard fighting Oh! I liked to got a head of my story it was abot two oclock when Sunday morning when we had a the Miny Rifels come hear for all / of us thay are the things we have shot tham some thay shoot nice we go a target shooting most every day we have got to git ready now thay have sent for thirty five more men the Compnys has got to be filed up to tenn hundred and tenn men in all that is one thousand hundred and one in each Compny thay are a going to send all the sick home Lutenent Car is at home a giting some men he is to be back monday if he dont git enuff Captain Baldwin will go next weak I must stop writing now pirty soon William you must write oftner every day or two I would like to know how thay all git along in Farmington and thare to give me all the peticklers when you write this from

            Well I must write to the rest of you some Pap how do you do this morning I should like to take you through a moying this morning but as it is I cant very well so you must do the best you can and get the work out of william to but dont hurt eather of yorselvs but write to me now and tell me all abot the / times thare Oh!             Well Ma how do you do I hope you are well you must not work to hard this sumer it is warm hear now and I expect it is thare to how dos the milking come along thare I expect you have made lots of buter we dont git eny hear nor eny thing but meat bread coffee tea shuger and rice beans that is all with out eny seasning but salt we hafto cook everything but bread now write this is all at preasent good morning from your son
