Alonzo Burton Chancy Chamberlain was born around 1860 in New York to Nelson and Dimis Chamberlain. His father was a farmer who owned $200 of personal property by 1860. He grew up and attended school in Alma, New York, and by 1880, he was working as a farmer. He married Belle Strait around 1881, and they had at least twelve children: Amy, born around 1883; Annie, born around 1883; Elsie, born around 1884; Forest, born around 1886; Ethel, born around 1888; Ralph, born around 1890; Louise, born around 1892; Roy, born around 1894; Leo, born around 1895; Inez, born around 1898; Dallie, born around 1901; and Nelson, born around 1902. They moved to Hambden, Ohio, in the 1880s and then to Justice, Texas, in the early 1900s. By 1930, he was living in his daughter Elsie’s household in Concord, Ohio. He died there on November 16, 1932.
