Beloved Companion and Friends
It is in good health and circumstances as the Armey afords that I write you a few line to let you know that I still survive the and not now with the pale sheated Nations of the Dead I am thankful to him from hom all blessings comes for the good health he has blest me with for the last 2 years and I hope and pray and trust in him that he will still bless me with life and health that I may live to see you all a gan on Earth if not hear in Heaven whare we will meat to part no more may this bee the desire of our every hart and mind to meat in Heaven them thats gon before to that land of rest the Heaven a Bove
March 8th 1864 Christiana Tenn
This morning I am going to try to find my letter I have nothing of interest to write to you at this time I have not receivd a letter from you since the 27 of last month I looked for a letter this mail but thir was none came for me but I reckond thir is one close behind coming I recond that before this reaches you will hear that we have left McMinnsville and for fear you dont get my other letters I will mention all the partickulars as far as I have any we struck tents the morning of 23rd of feb. to relive the 33rd Ind as it hapened it was the third all round the 33rd Ind has gon in the vetran survis and gon home on furlough we had a nice trip through the wether warm and plesant we was near fore days on the road hear it comenced raining the 29th feb and it rained two days and nights and hardley stoped the country whare we are is level or rather low ground to much so I think for health so you can gues we had some mud and water on the ground the men that we relived hear had bin har fore months they said this was a healthy place but then I cant see it in that lite though we have our health any whare / This country beats all for rain that I ever seen it rains when it pleases whether we are on guard or not I have for got to tell you that we are in the 11th Armey Corpse reyserve 4th Brigade Brigadier General Vancleave Major Gen Roseau Comanding Department at Nashville Tenn Brigadier Gen Vancleave comands at Murfreesboro our regament at the present time is guarding the chatanooga R Road from Stone River to Fostersville Co A. & Co C. Stone River Co G at a stockade Co F & Co D & Co E at Christianna Co H Stockade or som other place Co B, I & K at Fostersville this is the disposition of our regament on the map you can see whare we are on the map you will find that this place comences with G in the place of C so that you wont be at a loos to know whare to find and you will know whare we are at this time this place consists of a store with a bout a good armful of goods Provost Machel Office and Head quarters consists of a log hous or houses a store room for Hospital and one or two dwelling houses so / you can gues that it is a gay place if a person did not care what they say but it dos me as well as any place except home if I get in no worse place than this I will get a long The vetran that has gon in is trying to get of home they think they will get off in a few days Captain Moris is trying to get to come with them he is going after the old Muster Rolls that he left at Linneaus I dont know whether he will get off or not he went to murfreesboro yesterday to see if he could get leave of absence so as I want this to go out to day I will have to close for this time to hoping to hear from you soon this will have to answer your letters as I cant write to many to your one Hoping soon to hear from I subscribe my self As ever yours untill Death John T Hayes
