Dear Father Mother Cyrus Jane & the rest of you I now take the present oppertunity of writeing and let you know how I get a long & the rest in general I think that I shal like camp life better than I thought I should when we first got into camp have ben sick as I wish to be for 3 years to come but now I feel wel as ever but I cant stand the iron plated crackers yet and I think that most of the rest are the same for some of the thoughest of our compeny are sick Capt Charles is as good as enny one can be when a felow is sick we were sworne in yesterday but there was nothing / sed a but bounty but Capt is down in town seeing a bout it we wer sworne in for years war or not we are fast but not but for 3 years if it should last but I dont think it wil for they are begining to drive thing for men that went out of camp the day we came into camp was in a fight satuarday I made a mistake when I write my outher letter insted of one hundred 000 it was 30,000 but there is not so meny now for the 3 months men are getting thind out pretty wel but 3 years men are bet getting thick and we shal have to leave camp in a short time I wil stop writing for this time hopeing to hear from hoam Folks say thare has ben no rain in 5 weaks so you can gudg how dusty it is here pleas writ and let me / know whether you have had eny rain sence we left hoam if you can spel this letter out you wil do wel for I have to writ on a board on my neas and cant writ nor half think and will bid you good by for this time
