                        My Dear Mother
As Sergt Diblin is going home tomorrow on a furlough it is a good chance to send you a few lines to let you know how your Son Albert is getting along. I am enjoying good health at present but have been complaining a little time back with a bad cold, but it has left me, and thank the Lord I am all right again

I suppose you have seen Capt Allstrom before this.

There is nothing going on of any importance around yer times keep about the same thing it is quite cold today, the wind blows hard from the north. I dont thing there any signs of our / moving away from here very soon. I looked for a letter from you today but I didn't get any I hope you are not sick. give my love to John. I expect they keep him pretty busy now this time of the year. does he work any on the farm? I suppose so though. tell Adam if he dont write to me pretty soon I shall be after him with that sharp stick. I keep looking for a letter from Aunt Clemmy but I expect she has got company perhaps Catie Acker is paying her a visit ha ha. I often think of poor old Betsy thats dead and gone to her long home.

I wrote to Uncle Henry the other day. dont you think it was an old screamer I can tell you, I wrote one of them / foolscap sheets full. I wanted to let him know that his nephew hadn't forgotten him. I am in hopes I shall hear from S.E.W. Johnsing pretty soon, if my letter ever reaches him.

if it is no trouble to you mother I wish you would send me a bundle of envelopes or at least a package as I am getting out of envelopes but I have a plenty of paper I believe there is nothing else that I want. Oh yes Mother look among my old rubbish and find some of my old fish hooks for if we stay here I am going to fishing this spring. there are any quantity of catfish and suckers in the Monocacy. remember me to all the neighbors, tell them / that Albert likes soldiering as well as the day he commenced the trade. one year will soon pass away. eight months has nearly gone and the 14th as yet have not received a scratch. I received a letter from Amos last thursday he is enjoying first rate health.

I think this year will wind up this inglorious War, and /64 will come in and find a once more peaceful Country the Rebels are getting hungry I can tell you! but I must bring my letter to a close hoping this may find my Mother & father enjoying good health and may God keep you & bless you. My love to you

Yours Truly Albert. write soon
