Dear Mother
I seat myself this fine morning to pen you a few lines to assure you that I am doing finely and feel first rate again. Sergt Diblin arrived in camp last night or at least this morning at about 1 oclock. He came through all safe and sound, and brought me the good news that you were all well. I received / your letter and also one from Adam. you say you are almost crazy to hear from me, but you have received a letter from me before this I guess, as I wrote some four or five days ago.
I received the hooks and lines and also the envelopes, and a large bundle from Libbie, and some candy & segars from Major.
Eseck is well and sends his pious regards to you and John, and says he knows well where the Aligator Hotel is.
I dont hear of any / war news of importance, any more than the Rebels getting pretty well starved out.
There are no signs as yet of our being paid off There is no news of any import in or about our camp.
I was out last Sabbath, you know it was Easter Sunday. I had all the eggs I could eat.
Three cheers for Cousin Hubbard, he is doing right smart ha, ha, another gal hurrah for that.
I would like to see you coming down here ha, ha.
It begins to look like / spring down yer! I am going to write to Amos today if I have time, and I will send your love to him he is getting along first rate he says.
My men are getting along finely. they talk of renting out the tent and moving out doors this spring they leave it to me, ha, ha. I think I shall go fishing next Saturday, likely you want a mess. I will drive around that way, but I must close, the Captain arrived back safe in camp. give my love to all my friends, and receive a portion / yourself. May God be with you all and guard you from all harm. write soon.
Yours Son Truly and
Affectionately
Albert.
