Dear Mother
I have written you one letter today and thinks I to myself, I will write you another and get inside of the envelope, and come down and see you. (how are you Mother) what do you think of your boy. that's the Sergeant in all his glory, to a gnats eye.
There is a gallery on four wheels down in the rear of our camp, so I thought I would step in and see if / they could take my phiz without breaking their apparatus, and sure enough they succeeded. I will send you one of my cards to as soon as I get them.
I wish you and John could work it to have one taken together, and send me. Just try it Mother. I would feel highly tickled.
I have got one of Esecks cards I will send you before long. he is well.
Just look under my chin see if you notice anything on the extreme tip end, ha, ha (How are you Whiskers).
We had quite a rain last night, but it is a splendid day today, and I hope it will so continue. /
The boys have been drilling and come in the tent puffing and blowing. I have not done any duty since I was sick, but I shall shoulder my old pop gun in a day or two if nothing turns up.
You will notice in the picture that I hang on to that light vest yet. it is just as good as it ever was. those inside pockets havn't worn out yet, ha, ha. I think I shall wash it one of these days.
Remember me to grandmother. I will send you a card to give her when I send yours. Write and let me know as soon as you can whether you get the money or not. I believe I have / nothing more to write at this present time.
Your Son Truly Albert
with love to you
and John
P.S
Try Mother and get that picture I spoke about
