Dear Mother.
In answer to yours of the 20th I take my pen this morning to scratch you a few lines as I cannot better employ my time this morning. Toay is the day you thought of having my box ready to send, so if it starts today I shall look for it about next Monday, and if Akley brings my boots I will get them about the same time. I wrote to you the next day after he left and told you to send them by him, if you felt / disposed. I will make everything right with Aunt Hannah. I'll assure you, the two pair of stockings will not come amiss. the sauce pan will do just as well as a kettle, and better. So Adam & Lefferson are going it strong are they. well let them go if they dont know any better.
I see Champ is alive yet. you need not worry Mother for I shall take good care of myself.
I dont think you ever told me before about gipsey. I should have thought that she would have forgotten you being away so long. if she thinks so much of you / as that, I dont think I would send her away again, ha, ha. Excellent old cat.
The day is clear and quite cold. I have a good fire in my fire place. We have had but very little snow, it is over a week since I have been to camp but its been so cold that I stayed at home and attended to my own business. I will be appear quite a stranger to them. I dont think I shall go over until my boots come, and box. then I can take them over something for their New Years, that is if you address the box to the / Ambulance Corps. if not why it will come to the Regt and then I can open it there before I bring it over, but I guess you have received my letter before this telling you to direct it here. if not, why it dont make any difference. I will write you as soon as it comes
give my love to John & remember me to your neighbors and any enquiring friends. May God bless you and keep you in health.
I now close your loving
Son Albert.
