Dear Mother
I must now sit and pen you a few lines in answer to yours of the 10th which came to hand last night. I was happy to hear from you again.
I have just come in from the stable I have been at work this morning building a feed box for my four legged friend and gave him a good cleaning, for he was mud from head to the after parts, as him and I were out taking a / retrospective view of the country yesterday in search of brick for Lt Tabor. I hunted the country over in the vicinity of Culpepper but nary brick could I find so the Lieutenant is minus, without he can manage to get a brick in his hat. While out I called at the Regiment finding the brave members of Company G all as lively as crickets.
I wrote you last Sunday that I was expecting company Well the company arrived & I had a good dinner in waiting for them. Thompson said he wasn't at all sorry that he had made his business to call /
Dear Mother I am glad you do not worry because the prospects of my coming home this season are rather slim, but it is as you say a short time to be at home, only ten days, and I know I feel better satisfied than if I came, as it would be only an aggravation, as so long as I am well and in good quarters why it suffices, not but that I would love to see you but let us trust in God who is mighty to save.
all is quiet around the Train. My tentmate Elec is well.
I received a letter from my old friend Peter Lawless this morning. I was greatly / pleased to hear from him that he is doing well.
I suppose you are no doubt acquainted with his whereabouts. I shall write him this afternoon, also to Susie. give my love to John tell him to look out for the Draft and now Mother dont forget to put on your specks before you read this. I will return the check although of no import. I have written to Aunt Hannah and told her, O good her puddings were
I will now close may kind Heaven protect & bless you
Albert.
