Brandy Station, Va.
March 4th/64.
Dear Mother
having some moments of waste time I take my pen to drop you a few lines to assure you that I still right side up with care.
It is a beautiful day. I have just returned from Head-quarters and have got to go away again this afternoon. it is very nice to ride around the country such nice weather. its good for the appetite. I saw Capt Allstrom this morning, he looks as gay as they make them
There is no news at present of any importance. I expected we would be on the / march long before this, but now I see no signs of a movement very soon.
I stopped at the company this morning, and found the Boys all well. The meetings still continue and many have been converted.
It still continues quite healthy there a few cases of the typhoid fever but as a general thing it is very healthy. But a death in the Army isn't so much looked at as at home.
I had a letter from Bloom Wolcott yesterday he seems afraid that he will be drafted and dont like the idea of fighting.
I dont hear anything from Coz Clemmy. remember me to enquiring friends and love / to John. I dreamed of home last night or rather this morning as I didn't crawl into bed until morning. I was an honorary member of the Guard.
All is quiet in the Train. Men are at work painting the Ambulances.
I can think of nothing more at present. have you received the check yet?
I must now close, get my dinner, saddle my horse, and away to duty.
write soon. May Heaven protect & bless you with good health as this leaves me the same.
Your loving Son
Albert. C
