Albert C. Harrison to Cornelia Harrison, 1 April 1864
Camp of the Amb. Corps
3d Division 6th Corps
Brandy Station, Va.
April 1st 1864.

Dear Mother
I have a few moments of spare time this and I will improve by penning you a few lines to inform you how matters and things are transpiring around and about Brandy Station

I have but a few moments to spare as I must pack up my duds & sweetmeats and be ready to change quarters either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. When I last wrote you I thought we would not have to change camp / but I find I was mistaken still we go right into good quarters, about two and a half miles from our present camp to the rear & west of the Station. We now lay from the Station a due South course.

The whole Division moved this morning. I heard our Brigade was moving & I threw the saddle on my horse & started for the Regiment but before I got there they had gone & the First Brigade of the 1st Division (now belonging to the 2d Corps) were taking their old quarters and were well pleased with the camp of the old 14th / saying it was the best camp in the whole Army. I saw some of our Boys who were left behind to guard what they wished to take with them, such as Company property axes, picks &c.

I believe our Regiment although they leave their good quarters get quite decent ones, formerly the camp of a Maine Regiment.

I am in the enjoyment of good health and do hope this may find you all in the same enjoyment excuse scribbling as I am in a hurry & will write as soon as we get in our new quarters.

write soon & accept this from your ever loving Son Albert.
For the American Eagle.

P.S.
Hereafter Thus
            Sergt A. C. Harrison
                        Amb. Corps
