My Dear Mother
without the least doubt you are very anxious to hear from your Boy & as this is the first opportunity I have had, I will pencil you a few lines to assure you by the blessing of God I am still spared to serve my Country, and in good health, earnestly hoping these few lines may find you the same. I have been at the front four days with my / stretcher bearers and was relieved this morning and now I am with the Train.
our Brigade has been very luckey so far and especially our Regiment. two in our Company have been wounded, one was Charlie White, and the other Saml Henderson. Charlie received a luckey wound and Sam also. there has been some hard fighting and we are victorious and with the help of God we will settle this thing this campain. I have not time to give / you a detail of the past but will do so at some future time if I am spared.
Do not worry Dear Mother but trust in God. He doeth all things well. give my love to John, Grand Ma, and accept of it yourself. May God bless you all & keep you from all harm Write soon. we have received no mail as yet. I am anxious to hear from you. Remember me to all enquiring friends & neighbors.
Your loving Son
& Bro in the Lord /
