My Dear Mother & Father
I believe I will pen you a few lines before going to bed to inform you that I am still in the land of the living & in the enjoyment of good health, hoping this may safely reach you finding you enjoying the same privilege. I have still the same story to relate in regard to letters, not one have I received from you as yet. I am sure I cannot imagine / the cause if you direct as I desired. some of the Boys receive letters regularly. dont stop writing but keep on until I do receive one. I received one from Lizzie Doughty she spoke of you & that is the first I have heard regarding you since the Corps went from here.
But I am waiting very patiently, if you are only well then I am content & if my letters reach you it is all right. It is very pleasant weather now not too warm & not / too cool, but just about right. good for sleeping but the mosquetoes are quite troublesome, more so than at any other time during the past summer. We get plenty of rain & the roads are in excellent condition. we have been on another trip to the Fifth Corps since I last wrote you and hauled down a load of sick & wounded
It is very quiet along the lines tonight and has been very still during the day.
There is some talk / of our Corps returning soon. it will be decided in a short time whether or not they will return or stay up in the valley with Sherridan & then measures will be taken to dispose of our Train until then we will remain as we are. there is good news from Mobile that Fort Morgan is taken. I will not write you a longer letter this time, but close & retire. May God bless you all. My love to you & John. remember me to all
Your loving Son, Albert CH
