Albert C. Harrison to Cornelia Harrison and John Lloyd, 18 November 1864
Camp Near City Point, Va.
 Friday Nov 18th 1864.

Dear Mother & Father,
I must pen you a few lines to inform you that affairs have changed considerably since I last wrote. But I must first tell you that it is some time since I have heard from you, not as yet receiving any word since you left New York.

I do earnestly hope John is not seriously ill, which is the cause of your not writing me. We are up at any early hour this morning for at six oclock we hitch up & turn in our Train and about tomorrow we will be on board of a transport / enroute for the Shenandoah Valley to join our respective detachments, and if the thing be really necessary to fight with the Hero Phil Sherridan, but as I stated above we go to our old train which is now under the command of a Lieutenant by the name of Tabor. he is a good Boy & thinks considerable of this chap and of course I will retain my old position in the train. It is true we had everything arranged here comfortable. But none of the Boys seem at all sorry that we are going to our Corps to see the old Boys once more, for it is four months & over since our Corps left here and we / can afford to build winter quarters once more if our lives are spared so to do. But the order has come to hitch up and I must close. it is a little rough to leave this good train for we had some of the best of teams. our Division train has the name of being the finest in the Army of the Potomac. But they say our train in the Valley isn't so bad. we will soon have a good train again. God bless you dear Mother & Father. I do hope & pray that you are in health When you write direct

Amb Train 3d Div 6th AC
Washington D.C. /
the Lieutenant says when we arrive in Washington he will try to get our pay, & if he succeeds I will express you about $125 by Adams Express Co, which you shall use if necessary or buy a farm if you wish, do as you please with it.

But I must close now I may have time after we arrive in Washington to pen you a few lines.

My love to you & regards to friends & neighbors

Your True Son
