Francis M. Phelps to Unknown, 6 August 1864
Saturday Morning Aug 6 64
I received a letter from you this morning dated July 30—was very glad to get it. have you received my last. you did not say any thing about it. I received the one you wrote just before I left, after I arrived here. There is some fireing along the lines this morning, but not so much as usual. it is very warm, a most miserable country. I had rather stay in the Cumberland department one year than here one week. I got a letter from Menasha they miss Uncle very much. Nora is going back to Beetown every thing else about the same. I am on duty as Officer of the day, not much to do. send all of the Appleton papers that you can / with Madison Milwaukee & Chicago.

Write soon my respects to A.M.

Yours &c
Frank
