Providence April 8
 
Dear Farther I am home again. and you do not know how strange my visit has made me feel all I can think of is Uncles dying. he died so happy and was so glad to think he was ready. farther you never heard any body talk about death as he did I was so glad to think I was there to take care of him and many pleasant hours I have past listening to him. farther if I only was as good as uncle you do not know how happy I should be. poor del has been vary sick since her farther death and when I left there she could just go round the house. all the rest of the famly but Aunty were well she could hardly stand upon her feet I did not see a great deel of new york while I was there so you see I shall have to go again some time if you live long you and me will go and see the wourld world if you / dont hurry and get over this horrid war I am afraid we will never have good times again what nice times we would will have if you and ernest come home again there will be four old maids to keep house for you and then we will have some fun. I am all ways going to live with you. here I was going to write you a long letter and mother is going to send the away so all I can tell you is that I am well and all the famly will you please to write to Jersey City, and all the to the girls as you would to one of your own children. I have got some work to next week and plenty to do home to keep me busy. good time coming some time I hope. I must write to ernest so please excuse the looks of this letter and sunday I will write again and tell you some news take good care of Ernest and dont forget to write. I have written five letter to you and I should like to hear what you think of me. I know the reason you have not written you have had so much to do. I must say / good by god bless you and take good care of you and pray for me farther that I may be a good and faithful child. good by once more

Dear Ernest what
to make of you I do not know I am afraid you have forgotten me. I am vary sorry you could not have seen Uncle before he died he loved you dearly and would have done any thing for you. he often spoke of you and said many kind things about you why did you not write to Aunty and the girls they want to hear from you liny is waiting for this and so you see I must close I will write to you sunday please to write good by
