Dear parrents i received your letter this morning and was glad to here from you I am glad you got the greenbacks. how many did you get I sent 50 dollars I let steven cole have 10 dollars. I kept 4 I am shame to send home for any so soon but I want some to get my watch fix. When I was at Verrena landing I sent home a box of clothing 6 shirts 2 jackets. you will have to pay the express. the jacket with bright buttons is steve cole. I see estus howard evry day he is well. What reg is Mr blunt in and san andrew. What was the matter with charley brown he is a regular bounty jumper ant he I dont think I shall have to stay a great while longer I am sorry to here the death of father abreham the flags were flying half mast and guns fired evry half hour I herd from frank yesterday he is at petersburg there was a letter came from adda crossman to frank this morning you say you are a goin to have your picture taken. that picture I sent / when I was down to hampton I had it taken with a rebel jacket on I thought it was a prety good one. the cars run to Ashland 2 times a day We have got some more horses. I drill evry day 3½ hours I have not drill any to day I fell of from a horse and spraint my rite arm so I can not rite very well. I thought I would try to write back handed but I do not make it go very well. there are men detale to go in to the city every day to cary dispatches. how do otises folks do has emmerlyes husband come home yet. I told otis that this war never would till I come out here and I guess I have done the job. I hope I have I see in the richmond Whig this morning that mobile was captured with 8000 prisoners. I wish you could see liby prison iron bars cross the window. I have got 8 just as good offisers as there is in the reg. capt pursey 1st lieut carter 2ond lieut flanagan. has father bought that rifel of ferds. I do not think of any thing els to write now so good by

Dear brother Henry I thought write you a few lines to let you know that I dont for get you I wish I could see you Mother says you go to school you must be a good boy here is a ring that I will send you and I want you should send me something this is made out of cocanut shell I have got a bone one all fix of with cross sabres I put in red seeling wax. now dont for get me now
