Dear Brother Fred
we rec'd Addies letter last week and was very glad to hear from her. as we were so anxious to hear about the particulars of the death of that dear Brother Frank. it was a great surprise to us and it comes very hard on father & mother and I can not realize that I never shall see his bright face again. there seemes that not one hour passes but what brings tears to mothers eyes but she does the best she can and she says she only wishes that / his remains could be brought home and be buried here and I think that if Frank could have had his say he would say take me home to Northbridge but it is a long ways to carry him but he I suppose has got property enough to bring him home and to pay you to come with him. now we have talked it all over and have decided to have him brought home as soon as we find out about his property as he must have some some where. father went to worcester to the bank but he drawed it all out a year a go last spring. now will you be kind enough to let us know all about his affairs out there and if his bank book and his notes are there because it must all / be settled. father was appointed Administrator last week and he will be oblige to settle up every thing and he wants every thing that belong to Frank picked up and sent home all but his rifle and that he will leave to you and Fred dont you take a $1000 dollars for it will you if you dont want it send it home. we expect some of his clothes from N Brookfield to morrow and I have wrote to uncle Phin to find out about his affairs out there if we can not collect his bills father will have to go to law about it and I hope you will help us all you can and we will pay you for it all right. Fred I know it makes you feel a great deal worse than I do for it happen out there and / I cant make it seem that he is dead. tell addie that mother say that she wrote a most splendid letter and she will try to answer it as soon as she gets over this trouble. I saw an account of franks death in the paper last night. he had a great many friends about here who inquire about him most every day. will you save me that gold ring of his and that is all I ask for. Now brother Fred I must bring this letter to a close as I have got to write 2 more letters to night so I bid you good bye with my love and respect to all my friends.
