Dear Sister with great pleasure I seat my self to drop you a few lines to let you no I am well at this time and I truly hope thes lines will reach your hand in due time and find you well I received your cind letter dated the 26 and 27 of Nov and was glad to here from you and to here you was well you rote that Jasper Herd rote that Anderson was ciled at the foot of the Look out Mountain which he was I recon you think hard of my not riteing to you about his geting ciled he was ciled the 5th of october and I rote to you and Pap and Sarah the 7th but I dont recon you got the letter he was shot through the head the ball went in just over his left eye and come out just behind his right ear hed rote that we had to leav without burrying him we was orderd off rite strat but I got permision to stay with him and done so till he was buried / I had him put away nice as I could under the present circumstances I could not get a coffin but I found some old plank and I had them put round him the best I could and had him laid in a notible place where I could point out the spot for years to come if I should live the yankeys has the ground now where he is you rote that you herd S. P. Hinton was ciled it is not so you rote to no where Harrison Roper was he belongs to Betts battery but he is at home now on furlough you rote of sending me a letter in D. C. Stewarts I never got it Martty you rote of having a stranger in your part of the world I would like very much to see him you must rite what him name is and rite how he is comeing on you rote that Mr hurt was ded I was very sorry to here of it I will hav to close rite soon my address is bristol Tennesse your brother
