My Dear Mother
it is With the gratest of pleasure for me to set down to for to write a few lines to you for to let you know that I am well at present and enjoying good health We are laying at Jefferson Citty a guarding of it But I receive 3 letters the 25 of this month and was very glad to here from you to think that you had not forgot me not yet But I feell so proud of having a letter to day I cant speak to the Company boys / But I want to see you all very bad But I expect to before a grate while for this Rebelion must come down is no mistake about it
I feell very glad that you got the money that I sent to you and I want you to use the money if you want it for I think that you need the use of it for it is hard time I expect with you the weman are all starving to death here in this place for ant any thing for them to dew / But the papers say that war is done with at present and Rebelion is broke But how true it is I cant tell
But give my love to all enquiring friend in Hollis But I never was so rugard in my life as I be now for I am fat as a hog and saucy as a little dog and dont care for any boddy a tall You tell the Boys that I am not afraid of the Rebbels a tall for they are all rond ous most every day / But I must come to a close by bidding you good by But I want you to send me some postage stamps for ant any to by in this place atall But remember me Mothr in all of your preys mothr for god is All to carred ous all through this Rebelion and carred ous home to our native land a gain This is from your
