My Dear Mother
it is with the gratest of pleasure for me to set down to day for to try and pen a few to you for I let you all know that I am well at present and I hope that these few lines will find you all enjoying good health and taking all the comfort of life &c But I receive your letter yesterday it was dated Feb 1 and I was very glad to here and find you all well at present time and on praying ground I got all of your paper and all stamp but 2 but I ant got one letter that you sent me with C stamp in it
But the weather is very warm here at present all of the Boys are smart at present But give my love to Giles Hodgeson folks and tell all of them that I should like to see them verry well But I think if you had my minerture now it must be handsome one for I have had my hare cut short John say give my love and best spect to all acquiring friends But I want you to write to me as quick as you get this Write all news that you can get Please to Direct it to New Orleans La Co H 12 maine Regt In Care of Capt Appleton
