Emma Gray
Emma Gray (maiden name: Swinerton) was born around 1815 in Danvers, Massachusetts. She married James M. Gray in Sudbury, Massachusetts, on April 22, 1842, and they had at least six children: James, born around 1843; Albert, born around 1845; Harriet, born around 1848; Marshall, born around 1851; Hiram, born around 1865; and Martha, born around 1868. They settled in Standish, Maine, and her husband worked as a farmer. In 1850, they owned $1,000. A decade later, they owned $1,500 of real estate and $500 of personal property. Her husband died in Standish on May 4, 1868. Emma continued to live in Standish with her children, and in 1870, she owned $2,400 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. She died in Standish on March 5, 1891.
