Paul Chadbourn to Darling H. Chadbourn, 13 February 1860
Boston Feb 13. 1860

Dear Brother;
                        having a few moments left this eve after writing one letter I will improve them in writing to you. I recd yours with Note in due season all right though some might object to the date your dating the Notes when you return answer in sted of when I send it but it will make but little difference with so little as I send. I was pleased to hear from you, for I felt some worried when I heard you had got hert. I am glad farming agrees with you so well I should like to see you when you are as fleshy and as much of a man as I am!

                        I am enjoying my usual good health & prosperity, and am having some fine times just now skating. I go once or twice every week and have as good company to go with as there is in the city of Boston. am getting to be quite a skater, you better believe.

                        I heard from home yesterday. Father is no better and my fears grow more alarming about him. I think you will come home and see him if he continues to fail won't you? The rest of the family are well. they hint to me that Joseph & Mary Jane begin to talk quite serious now on matrimonial questions and hints are thrown out that they may be married this spring. It has been quite sickley there this winter and that Uncl Billy Deering, Charlie Hooper & Alonz Leavitt's wife have died. It is quite sad to think of certainly. But I have some consolation when I think that I tried to warn them faithfully when I was there. Why is it that people will put of the one thing needful so long till a dying hour. O may you my Brother put it off no longer if you are without it now, but seek for that which will be you comfort in life and your support in death and give you a seat among the blest ones in Heaven. Prepare to meet death!
