Benjamin Fletcher was born on February 14, 1807, in Hollis, New Hampshire, to Benjamin Fletcher and Abigail Kittridge. He married Lucinda Davis around 1830, and they had at least eight children: Mary, born around 1831; Lydia, born around 1833; Catherine, born around 1835; Benjamin, born around 1837; Carlos Coolidge, born around 1839; Lucius, born around 1841; Joseph W., born around 1844; and Eldridge, born around 1846. They lived in Acworth, New Hampshire, until the 1840s, when they moved to Nashville, New Hampshire.
By 1850, he was working as a watchman. A decade later, he was working as a carpenter in Chester, Vermont, and he owned $300 of real estate and $200 of personal property. He moved to Nashua, New Hampshire, sometime in the 1860s, and by 1870, he owned $600 of personal property. He retired in the 1870s, and he returned to Chester, Vermont, sometime after 1880. He died of “old age” in Chester on November 3, 1896.
