Sarah Stephens
Sarah Stephens (maiden name: Barron) was born around 1790 in Georgia. She married Solomon Stephens in Putnam County, Georgia, on December 29, 1808, and they had at least ten children: Eliza, born around 18186; Josiah, born around 1818; Edmond, born around 1820; Thomas, born around 1823; John, born around 1825; Samuel, born around 1828; William Anderson, born around 1831; Leonidas, born around 1834; Sarah, born around 1836; and Mary, born around 1838.
 
They moved to Randolph County, Alabama, sometime in the 1840s, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1850, they owned $1,350 of real estate. Her husband died around 1854. She remained in Randolph County, and by 1860, she owned $2,000 of real estate and $5,000 of personal property. According to that year’s census, she was unable to write. By 1870, she owned $400 of real estate and $400 of personal property. She probably died sometime in the 1870s.
