I am as well as usual. we have had a pretty hard time for the last few weeks, on the march all the time. /
last sunday morning we were paid our two months pay. we were then at Lebanon, Ky. there we took the cars in the afternoon of sunday for Louisville, where we arrived that evening. there we crossed the Ohio River to Jeffersonville in Indiana, where we took the cars for Cairo, where we arrived last night about two oclock, when we come on board this steamer, and have laid here till now. it is about four oclock in the afternoon. I think that we are on our way to Vicksburg. there was a dispatch come come here today that Vicksburg had / surrendered but I cant hardly believe it. there has been so many such reports.
