Mary Kennedy (maiden name: Chase) was born on January 12, 1830, in New York to Joseph and Margaret Chase. Her father was a farmer who owned $2,000 of real estate and $600 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in South Creek, Pennsylvania, and she married George Kennedy in the 1850s. They had at least three children: Margaret, born around 1854; Noble, born around 1856; and Delphine, born around 1865.
They lived in Delmar, Pennsylvania, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1870, they owned $1,500 of real estate. Her husband died in the late 1800s. By 1900, she was living in her son Noble’s household in Delmar. A decade later, she was living in her daughter Delphine’s household in the same town. She died of chronic pericarditis in Delmar on March 19, 1920.
