Wallace Chase to Mary Kennedy, 28 March 1864
Bently Creek March 28th 1864
 
Dear Sister Mary
                        I am just going to drop a few lines to you to let you no that I am well and hearty I have got so I can walk round some & ride out. I went to pennyville yesterday. I stay with Esther yet & shal this week & may be next. I cant come out there under two weeks or more so dont look for me. When I doe come I dont think I can stay more than one night, if you think that wont doe write & let me no before I come I have not herd from Wm yet & I guess not from daniel. John Inman is in or near Richmond he rote a few lines home to his father / he said he was near Richmond but we think he is in richmond the folks are all well here on the creek as they was when you was here Willsons wife is about the same. I was there sunday & she looked very bad. the folks on the hill are all well I think Joseph Inman has got most well.
 
Well I guess my stock of news has run out for this time and I wil have to stop writing. If you write Direct to south creek.
 
Tell Margret & Noble that Uncle wal is coming out there to fetch them a good whipping if they aint good children. no more for this time I have just rote to Jane
