Dear Sister
Mary it has been a long time since I wrote to you, but have not rec'd an answer yet and I thought that I would write you again today as I had the time to spare, which I have not had before in a long time. it is a cold rainy day here and it must be pretty cold up where you are.
We have had very good weather for the review. the two days were as nice as could be expected. / I could not go to see the review. I had to stay at home and work all day. it was a grand affair, the "biggest" thing of the kind ever known in America.
there is considerable dissatisfaction in the Army in regard to discharging the one years men first, the old veterans dont seem to like the arrangement much. they think that they ought to be discharged first, but the Government thinks otherwise, and I think the Government is right too.
I have not seen Wallace since I wrote you before, but I heard from him yesterday. / Moses Hurlbut was here to see me yesterday. he saw Wallace last week. he was well then. I expect him up here to see me every day. he will be discharged I think next week. I dont know when I shall be up there again, but think it wont be long. I have not heard from home in a long time, nor from Daniel either. I expect a letter from home today.
so I must close hoping to hear from you again some time. accept love for all.
from your Brother
Will.
