Oct 12th, 1864.

Dear Sister,
Mary, I now will write you a few lines once more to let you know my whereabouts and that I am as well as usual. I arrived here from Wilmington Saturday night. I dont think that I will stay here long this time. I shall be sent off on duty again somewhere. I am not afraid of being sent to the front now, for the old 45th were all taken prisoners on the 30th of last month. two Officers of the Regt that were wounded came in here last sunday. they were paroled all the others were sent down South.

I have not heard from Wallace since he became a soldier and I cant get a letter from Daniel at all. I have wrote to him several times but have never rec'd an answer. I dont know what is the reason.

Mary, as I dont feel much like writing tonight, I shall have to close. please give my respects to all friends. hoping to hear from you soon, I remain as ever,

Your Brother,
Capt. Wm Chase,
