Margaret Kennedy was born on October 13, 1853, in Delmar, Pennsylvania, to George Kennedy and Mary Chase. Her father was a farmer who owned $1,000 of real estate and $300 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Delmar, and she married Charles Goodreau on June 9, 1876. They had at least four children: William, born around 1877; Mary, born around 1879; Charles, born around 1880; and Rex, born around 1886. They lived in Delmar, and her husband worked as a farmer. Her husband died on July 1, 1899. She remained in Delmar, and by 1930, she was living in her son William’s household. She died of chronic myocarditis in Delmar on October 1, 1939.
