Milldale, Miss
July 28th 1863.

Dear Niece Margaret,
I was very glad to hear from you once more, and that you was well. I am very glad that you are going to school, and learning to read and write so well. you can write about as good as I can now, and you spell your words very well. you will be a school teacher before many years. does Noble go to school with you. you did not say anything about Noble. I will have to send him something nice. I would like to come up there and see all the folks, but I am to far from home. you must be a good girl and go to school and learn as fast as you can, so that when I come home you will be a nice young lady.

so I must close for this time. I remain your Uncle, Captain William Chase.
to Miss Margaret Kennedy.
