It has rained & snowed the best part of the last 3 weeks. It snowed for the first yesterday & it is quite cold to day. I recd a letter from Dan last evening & also one from home. Nancy rote it, for dave has gone to dixy again this winter. daniel was wel & so were they at home. / I am so glad that I am in the sirvice that it makes me laugh when I think they have drafted Wal Chase. they can kiss___Wals___if they ar smart enough. Mary when I send for my box of provision I shal look for a cake of maple sugar and some mince pies from Pine Creek, for I think they would taste ever so good when one dont get any thing but Goverment rations. I think I shal send before long if we stay here. Tell Margurate & Noble to be good children & when I come back I wil fetch them some Rebel property if I can get my hands on it. I have some little things now if I could only keep them. I herd last week & do not vouch for the truth of it, that a Reble flag of truce boat went past City point for Washington if so good by (over /
