Isaac Watson Dyer
Isaac Watson Dyer was born on September 13, 1855, in Baldwin, Maine, to Isaac and Martha Dyer. His father was a “lumberman” who owned $6,000 of real estate and $4,000 of personal property by 1860. The family lived in Baldwin until the 1860s, when they moved to Portland, Maine. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1878. He earned a living as a lawyer, and he returned to Baldwin sometime before 1880.
 
He supported the Republican Party, and he served in the state legislature in 1885. He married Mary Nye on June 7, 1887, and they had two children: Laura, born around 1889; and Isaac, born around 1891. The family lived in Portland. He served as U. S. District Attorney for Maine from 1890 until 1894 and again from 1898 until 1906. His wife died on December 22, 1923, and in April 1924, he applied for a passport to travel to Great Britain and France. By 1930, he owned a home valued at $12,000. He died in Portland on February 13, 1907.
