Thomas Hammond
Thomas Hammond was born around 1799 in Massachusetts to Jeremiah Hammond and Hannah Johnson. He married Permelia Reynolds in Shutesbury, Massachusetts, on March 27, 1825. They had at least six children: Abigail, born around 1831; Isabel, born around 1833; Nancy, born around 1837; Jairus, born around 1839; Julia, born around 1845; and Emma, born around 1847. The family lived in Wendell, Massachusetts, and Hammond worked as a laborer and cordwainer. By 1860, he owned $50 of personal property. A decade later, he was living in his daughter Abigail’s household in Wendell. He died of Bright’s disease there on August 20, 1875.
