Anthony Spuller
Anthony Spuller was born around 1830 in Switzerland to George and Mary Spuller. His father was a farmer who owned $3,000 of real estate by 1850. The family immigrated to America in June 1833 and settled in Ohio. They moved to Decatur, Indiana, sometime before 1850, and he worked as a laborer there.

He married Louisa Kerber on October 16, 1855, and they had at least eight children: Mary, born around 1857; Isabella, born around 1859; Frances, born around 1861; Josephine, born around 1862; Eva, born around 1864; Samantha, born around 1865; Catherine, born around 1871; and Elizabeth, born around 1876. He worked as a farmer, and by 1860, he owned $1,000 of real estate and $400 of personal property. A decade later, his wealth had grown to $3,000 of real estate and $500 of personal property. By the late 1800s, he was considered “one of the wealthiest farmers in Adams county.” He died in Decatur on March 27, 1900.
