Dear Brother
I recieved a letter while on the march through the country of Wild Cat Ky but have not had a chance to answer it before as we have been every day on the march since I wrote you from Louisville in your letter you requested me to send you 25 dollars I sent fifty dollars to you whilst at Louisville use it what you want of it but I would like you to save some and have some there you could send to me as I want it if I should get sick & I expect I shal want to use it as soon as the war is over I intend to come & / see you as soon as I have a chance that is as soon as I am discharged from the service & get things arranged so as to come I saw Jim Skinner a few days ago at his Regt he looks verry well to what he did when I saw him before at Uncle Thomases but I do not think he wil stand the service long his constitution is not strong enough our Division & his & Vandieves are in one core called the second army corpse department of the Ohio commanded by Genrl Critenden which is camped near 18 miles east of Nashville we are here after provision as train guards we have to march 63 miles to get back to the Regt I suppose you have read about the fight at perryvill & all the rest / of those places as we fought Brag all the way from Louisville to Cumberland Gap but the hard one that I was in was at Danville we drove 3500 three thousand & five hundred and a about five miles & it took us all day the Rebels force concisted of cavelry artilery & infantry but the old Ninth made them get it makes my hair stand to think of it as I were in a prety tight place so close to their canon that I had to run side ways when they fired to keep from being hit we have to start back now so goodby I would like to tell you all about it but I have not the time as we are ordered to get ready
yours as ever give my love to all especially friends W H Peck
We have slept in a tent for the first time in two months
[upside down]
