Morocco Newton Co. Ind July 4th 1863
Dear Brother
It is now four weaks since last I wrote you & have recieved no answer what can be the trouble is more than I can immagin perhapse you have not recieved my letter but I think you have perhapse you are expecting me home if so I must say to you it wil be impossible for me to come home verry soon so do not look for me until I write you the time when I shal come my health is improveing verry much so I can work some I am a studdying yiet & have been at work three days in the harvest field. to day is Thursday & looks verry much like rain the doctor & the rest of the family have gone Huckle Burying I expect them back soon as it is now nearly four Oclock I look for a letter from you to morrow as it is mail day I have recived the thirty dollars that you sent me & verry glad to get it as I did the news here is that Vixburg & a part of Lees is taken but I doubt the reports as being correct I think it done in order to get volunteers. the times here / are verry dull not much a going on there is a conciderable excitement among the Abolition & Democrat party to see which shal rule I think the Democrats wil rule here they seem verry strong I am anxious you should write as soon as you recieve this & let me know what is a going on in that vacinity & give me a full detail concerning the family how they get along & what they are a doing particularly Francis so no more
