Lydia Bennett Bacon
Lydia Bennett Bacon (maiden name: Kerr) was born in Putney, Vermont, on June 9, 1812, to Valentine Kerr and Rhoda Winslow. Her father was a farmer who owned $100 of real estate in 1850. She married Clark Bacon, and their son Harrison was born around 1843. They moved to Dummerston, Vermont, in the 1850s, and her husband worked as a farmer there. By 1860, they owned $1,800 of real estate and $600 of personal property. A decade later, their wealth had grown to $2,500 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. Her husband died sometime in the late 1800s, and she passed away of “old age” on August 4, 1899.
