Silas Good was born around 1842 in Wayne County, Indiana. He grew up and attended school in Wayne County, and by the early 1860s, he was working as a plasterer. He enlisted in the Union army on September 5, 1861, and mustered in as a private in Company G of the 8th Indiana Infantry later that day. He was 5 feet, 6½ inches tall, with light hair and blue eyes. He was discharged for disability on February 18, 1865. He died sometime after 1865.
