Silas Good Furlough, 13 March 1863
To all whom it may concern.
 
            The bearer hereof Silas Good, a private of 1st Lieut Jacob Widaman’s Co. (“G”) Eighth Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, aged twenty-one years, five feet, six and-a-half inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and by profession a farmer; born in Autreville, Wayne Co. Indiana, and enlisted at Winchester, in the Co. of Randolph, State of Indiana, on the twentieth day of August, 1861. to serve for the period of three years, or during the war; is hereby permitted to go to Noblesville in the county of Hamilton, State of Indiana, he having received a Furlough from the fourteenth day of March 1863, to the third day of April 1863, at which period he will rejoin his company or regiment at Ste. Genevieve, Mo., or wherever it may then be, or be considered a deserter.
 
            Subsistence has been furnished to said Private Silas Good, to the 15th day of March, 1863, and pay to the 31st day of December 1862, both inclusive.
 
            Given under my hand, at Ste. Genevieve, Mo, this thirteenth day of March, 1863.
