Warren D. Searles was born around 1813 in Nashua, New Hampshire, to James and Abigail Searles. His father was a farmer who owned $1,200 of real estate by 1850. He married Achsah Spalding in April 1838, and they had at least five children: Ellen, born around 1839; Warren, born around 1841; Sumner, born around 1843; Otis, born around 1845; and Myra, born around 1847. By 1850, they were living in Amherst, New Hampshire. Searles was working as a farmer, and he owned $650 of real estate.
He returned to Nashua in the 1850s, probably to help take care of his elderly mother. By 1860, he owned $1,500 of real estate and $500 of personal property. His son Warren died during the Civil War. By 1870, his wealth had grown to $2,500 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. His wife died around 1889. He remained in Nashua for the rest of his life, and he died there of “old age” on May 17, 1907.
