Achsah Searles
Achsah Searles (maiden name: Spalding) was born around 1814 in Hollis, New Hampshire, to Asaph and Abiah Spalding. She married Warren D. Searles in April 1838, and they had at least five children: Ellen, born around 1839; Warren, born around 1841; Sumner, born around 1843; Otis, born around 1845; and Myra, born around 1847. By 1850, they were living in Amherst, New Hampshire, and her husband was working as a farmer. They owned $650 of real estate.
They returned to Nashua in the 1850s, probably to help take care of Warren’s elderly mother. By 1860, they owned $1,500 of real estate and $500 of personal property, and a decade later, that wealth had grown to $2,500 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. She died of pneumonia in Nashua on August 12, 1889.
