Anna Matilda Wells
Anna Matilda Wells (maiden name: Murphy) was born on February 22, 1835, in Pennsylvania to John and Margaret Murphy. Her father was a farmer. She grew up and attended school in Chesnuthill, Pennsylvania, and she married Samuel M. Wells around 1857. They had at least eight children: Charles, born around 1858; Grove, born around 1859; Alonzo, born around 1862; Burton, born around 1865; Milton, born around 1865; Frederick, born around 1869; John, born around 1870; and Ora, born around 1872.
 
By 1860, they were living in Herrick, Pennsylvania. Her husband worked as a farm hand, and by 1860, they owned $100 of personal property. By 1870, they were living in Orwell, Pennsylvania. Her husband was working as a farmer, and they owned $1,200 of real estate and $175 of personal property. She died on August 8, 1889.
