Angelina Isbell
Angelina Isbell (maiden name: Boaz) was born around 1809 in Virginia to Meshack and Nancy Boaz. Her father was a farmer who owned $4,640 of real estate by 1850. She grew up in Buckingham County, Virginia. She married Robert Isbell, and they had at least nine children: George, born around 1834; Robert, born in March 1836; William, born in July 1837; David, born on April 12, 1839; Nannie, born around 1840; Frederick, born around 1842; Joseph, born around 1845; Milton, born around 1847; and Laura, born around 1850.
 
The family lived in a portion of Amherst County, Virginia, that became Appomattox County in 1845. Her husband worked as a merchant and farmer. By 1850, they owned $2,000 of real estate and at least seven enslaved laborers. A decade later, they owned $5,000 of real estate and $8,460 of personal property, including at least eleven enslaved laborers. At least five of her sons served in the Confederate army during the Civil War. By 1870, the family owned $2,500 of real estate and $500 of personal property. Angelina died sometime after 1880.
