Nathan L. Blakemore
Nathan L. Blakemore was born on June 17, 1817, in Page County, Virginia. He married Nancy Foster, but she died after about a year. He then married Jane Philips on August 23, 1842, and they had at least five children: Thomas, born around 1843; Mary, born around 1844; Jonathan, born around 1846; George, born around 1848; and David, born around 1852. They lived in Rockingham County, Virginia, and Blakemore worked as a merchant.
 
They moved to Augusta County, Virginia, in the 1850s, and by 1860, Blakemore owned $300 of real estate and $10,000 of personal property. A decade later, he owned $5,000 of real estate and $7,000 of personal property, and he employed at least one Black domestic servant. He returned to Rockingham County in the 1870s. He died in Tenth Legion, Virginia, on December 7, 1897.
