Sarah A. Walker (maiden name: Allen) was born on December 25, 1810, in Kentucky. She married Samuel Scott Walker in Adair County, Kentucky, on January 26, 1832, and they had at least eight children: Ann, born around 1832; Mary, born around 1834; Cyrus, born around 1836; Louisa, born around 1842; James, born around 1844; Jane, born around 1846; Melissa, born around 1847; and Custus, born around 1849. The family moved to the Iowa Territory in the 1830s. By 1850, they were living in Round Prairie, Iowa. The family moved to Pleasant, Iowa, in the 1850s, and by 1860, they owned $3,000 of real estate and $1,494 of personal property. A decade later, their wealth had grown to $5,000 of real estate and $4,000 of personal property. By 1880, they were living in their son Cyrus’s household in Eudora, Kansas. She died in Kansas on November 26, 1882.
