Richard Hansbrough was born around 1821 in Ireland. He immigrated to Canada by the 1850s, and he married a woman named Rachel. They had at least seven children: Hattie, born around 1851; Elizabeth, born around 1853; William, born around 1856; Theodore, born around 1859; James, born around 1862; George, born around 1864; and Franklin, born around 1869. They lived in Canada until the mid-1860s, when they moved to Elkhart, Indiana. Hansbrough worked as a minister, and by 1870, he owned $200 of personal property. He died sometime after 1870.
