Sarah Catherine Wallis
Sarah Catherine Wallis (maiden name: Landes) was born on August 15, 1838, in Cadiz, Kentucky. She eventually moved to Texas, and she married Joseph Edmund Wallis on January 12, 1860. They had at least three children: Charles, born around 1861; Daniel, born around 1868; and Lockhart, born around 1879. They lived in Chappell Hill, Texas, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1860, they owned $20,000 of real estate and $12,000 of personal property. They also enslaved at least thirteen people. They moved to Galveston, Texas, in the 1860s. By 1900, they employed a servant, a coachman, and a housemaid. She died on September 11, 1902, in Fort Davis, Texas.
